14 - Day Tour Active Holidays

Sri Lanka "The Pearl of the Indian Ocean"



DAY - 1

Reception by the local Sri Lankan tour guide. Upon arrival at the airport we drive directly on to Kitulgala. This small town on the Kelani Ganga was known as the location of the multiple Oscar-winning war film "The Bridge on the River Kwai". Kitulgala is also known as a base for white-water rafting on the Kelani River and otherwise an excellent place for adventurous activities. 

DAY - 2

Today you will experience the river rafting. Then we walk through a varied landscape. After dinner, we drive up to the Adam's Peak. This is a long 10-hour drive. 

DAY - 3

After the great experience of a sunrise on the summit of Adam's peak, when the mountain casts a pyramid-shaped shadow in the mist comes the descent over the approximately 5900 stone steps. The rest of the day consists of a well-earned break or a hike.  

DAY - 4

Today we drive to Sinharaja Rain Forest. 

DAY - 5

On this day we will take about a 5-hour hike in Sinharaja Rain Forest. Here you can see, among others, a variety of bird and butterfly species. He counts since 1988 a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the last large contiguous forest areas on the island of Sri Lanka. 

DAY - 6

Today we take a break. These can be used for individual exploring the countryside or if you wish, we can also go hiking together again.  

DAY - 7

Today we continue south to  Yala National Park . In Sri Lanka, the Yala National Park is the most famous and oldest nature reserve.  Elephants, wild boar, and several deer are also at home here.

DAY - 8

Then we drive to Badulla. Here is the capital of Uva Teeprovinz. It lies about 50 km east of Nuwara Eliya. 

DAY - 9

Immediately after your breakfast we drive from Badulla to Nanuoya by train. This is one of the most beautiful rail journeys through the mountains. Then it's on to Nuwaraeliya. The cityscape shape facades with European architectural style and other parks. The area is also called "Little England". 

DAY - 10

Early in the morning we drive to the Horton Plains National Park. The most popular destination of the park is the “World’s End”. This is a steep slope of more than 1050 meters. In the early morning on a clear day a view to the sea is sometimes possible. The goal of our journey today is called Ramboda or kandy. It goes through the middle of tea plantations, they can see the tea pickers at work and we  will visit a tea factory.

DAY - 11

On this day we will visit Kandy, the last capital of the Sinhala kings. In Kandy, we visit the "Temple of the Sacred Tooth" (tooth of Buddha) and experience the Kandydance (including fire eaters and dancing on hot coals). A visit to a gem museum, the botanical garden and a Silkshop are on the programme.

DAY - 12

In a drive to Habarana you can watch artists in a woodcarvingshop (carvings from teak, mahogany, etc.) in their work today. Along the way you will see the Dambulla cave temple and a spice and herbel garden. There is also a trip to the rock fortress of Sigiriya. The oldest palace of the 5th Century is famous for its frescoes and over 800 graffiti, including the famous "Cloud Damsels".

DAY - 13

On this day, there is a elephant safari planned through the jungle. Then there is a ride on a catamaran and experience a ride on an oxen cart.

DAY - 14

Today is the day of your departure. We drive along the Indian Ocean and you can once again enjoy the beauty of Sri Lanka. 

Then we bring it to the desired hotel on the coast or to the Colombo airport.
