Elephant Orphanage is a nursery and captive breeding place for wild Asian elephants. it is located around 70 kilometers away from the main Colombo – Kandy highway. Pinnawala has the largest number of captive elephants in the world. Established in 1975 by the Sri Lankan department of wild life conversation.
